DUI Defense Special Report

Springfield DUI Defense Lawyer

How Out-of-State Offenses can affect your DUI Conviction

You may find that you are confronted with a situation of having to handle an out of state DUI situation.  Massachusetts law requires the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) to regard an out of state violation "as if said violation had occurred in the Commonwealth." So if you were visiting another state and your license was suspended or revoked while you were there, your Massachusetts license will also be suspended or revoked.  You will be required to have your license reinstated in the other state where it was suspended prior to having your Massachusetts license reinstated.

DUI Attorney in Springfield handling Out-of-State Offenses

It can also occur that you were visiting or briefly living in Massachusetts and you were charged with a DUI in this state.  Massachusetts will report the charge to your home state, which likely will also possibly suspend your license. If you find yourself in this situation, you may wonder what to do first. It is important you contact Attorney Irwin M. Pollack, a Springfield DUI Defense lawyer.  This can be a complicated situation to untangle so that you can receive the best outcome on your driving rights.   It will take one of our specialized attorneys spending time and effort to review every detail in your case to obtain a successful result for you.  Whether you are attempting to sort out your license issue here in Massachusetts, or reside in another State but had your license suspended here, you can contact us to help you with your situation.  There are many things that can be done to challenge the evidence on hand, and we have the knowledge to be able to do that for you.
